In Eger, worthy to a thousand-year-old town, you can choose from a great number of cultural facilities, the buildings have their own stories, Walk around the town, take a local tourguide to help you to explore the old stories not available on the internet.
You should start walking at the second largest cathedral of the country, the Basilica of Eger, then explore the Archdiocese Library in the opposite building of the Lyceum, you can use a lift in the building up to the 2nd floor.
Then you should walk along Kossuth Lajos street to see the most impressing Baroque street of Eger. At the Franciscan church turn right and walk as far as the Archbishop's Garden. In the garden built on French and English garden architectural designs you can walk, have a rest or in the Thermal bath you can get recharged in the curative water, water massage, but you can also choose the wellness services of the Turkish Bath.
Walking back from the Archbishop's Garden along the bank of the stream you will get to Dobó square. Walk along the little streets, have a nice coffee, of a tasty lunch at a place to your liking.
In the afternoon or evening hours the next stopover should be Szépasszonyvölgy (Valley of the Beautiful Woman), visit it for a nice winetasting. In the valley, 15 minutes walk/ 5 minutes by car from the city centre, you arrive in a different world: there is peace and quiet here, leafy environs, joyfulness. At the cellar row you must taste Egri Bikavér (Bull's Blood) and Egri Csillag (Star of Eger), the two flagship wines of the wine region, then rely on the recommendation of the winemakers of Eger, because they wait for their guests with lots of nice series of wines, winetastings and dinner on request. In case of a bigger group previous registration is necessery and meals should also be pre-arranged.
