Wines from a family winery in Verpelét in the heart of the Szépasszony Valley: a cool stone cellar, a lively terrace and more than twenty Eger wines by the glass.
Varsányi Borbár serves the wines of Varsányi Winery from the Eger wine region, crafted in Verpelét by winemaker Katalin Farkasné Varsányi. Alongside light, fruity wines, the list features the region’s flagship wines, Egri Bikavér (Bull’s Blood) and Egri Csillag, as well as carefully selected Superior wines such as Debrői Hárslevelű, Egri Kékfrankos and Egri Bikavér Superior. Guests can also try a semi-sparkling wine, an orange wine, a dry rosé and a sweet late-harvest Hárslevelű.
All wines are available by the glass or by the bottle. To get to know the selection, choose a quickly served tasting flight of 3 or 4 wines, or book a guided tasting to hear the stories behind the wines. Cheese platters, cheese and ham platters and savoury snacks go well with the wines, and favourite bottles can be taken home at a reduced takeaway price.
The wine bar’s vaulted stone cellar seats 46 guests, making it an ideal place for a long conversation even on cooler days. In fine weather, the terrace overlooking the bustle of the valley welcomes guests. On Thursdays and Fridays, themed tastings and wine evenings add to the programme.
