Cserépfalu is located at the gateway to the country's longest mountainous valley, 18 kilometers from Eger. In the village's streets, you can admire numerous original, porch-fronted peasant houses.

Cserépvár

Built during the Angevin period, Cserépvár was once a royal castle that began its history in the 13th century. Over the centuries, it was owned by several noble families until it eventually came under the ownership of the Eszterházy family.

Ódorvár

Ódorvár is an abandoned medieval castle ruin located on a rocky ridge overlooking the Hór Valley. Based on a 1351 charter, the exact time of its construction and destruction is unknown, but its ruins still offer a magnificent view of the Bükk mountain range.

Suba-lyuk Cave and Museum

Suba-lyuk Cave is one of the most important archaeological sites for prehistoric research in Hungary, where Neanderthal skeletons were unearthed. The nearby museum offers insights into the details of the cave's excavation, replicas of stone tools, and the life of Neanderthal people.

Mész-tető and Ördögtorony Nature Trail

Mész-tető is a hill near Cserépfalu that boasts Bronze Age and Iron Age settlement ramparts. Walking along the Ördögtorony Nature Trail, visitors can encounter relics of Bükkalja's stone culture, as well as the famous beehive rock formation called the Ördögtorony (Devil's Tower).

Berezdalja Wine Cellar Row

The Berezdalja Wine Cellar Row is one of Cserépfalu's distinctive attractions, where carved and painted cellars are lined up in three rows, one above the other. The most famous is the Gacsó cellar, with life-size World War I statues adorning its walls.

Kisamerika (Small America) Cave Dwellings

The Kisamerika cave dwellings received their peculiar name during the Great Depression when poorer residents lived in homes carved into the tuff walls while the wealthier ones moved to America. The cave dwellings got their name from a mocking term used by the local Protestants.

Millennium Lookout Tower

The Millennium Lookout Tower was designed by György Csete, a Kossuth Prize-winning architect. Its shape resembles a beehive stone, and its windows are arranged in the pattern of the Big Dipper constellation. Built from dacite tuff blocks, the lookout offers a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding area.
