János Pálúr, the organist of the Budapest Fasor Reformed Church, will base his performance this evening on the narrower biblical account of creation, expressing his thoughts through the organ.
Creation Story
Many have tried to express the creation of the world through music. The most famous example is Haydn’s oratorio “The Creation”, but there are also numerous smaller and larger instrumental compositions on this theme. On this evening, János Pálúr, organist of the Budapest Fasor Reformed Church, draws upon the strictly biblical creation narrative, letting his reflections come to life on the organ. The work, however, is not a pre-composed piece planned down to the final note, but rather an improvisation—meaning the final music will depend on how the organ of Eger Basilica and the atmosphere of the moment inspire the organist. Quite literally, it is creation. Be there when it comes to life!
