János Bródy concert at the Géza Gárdonyi Theatre!

He is truly a child of the Beat era. In 1964, after graduating from high school, he joined the Illés band, where he became the author of several songs with Levente Szörényi. In 1973, the band could not stand the pressure of external and internal tensions, and at the end of the year, Lajos Illés disbanded the band.
In 1974, the Phonograph was established, which was more than just a band, as it functioned as a real artistic workshop. The records of Zsuzsa Koncz and Judit Halász were also made here, the intellectual author of which was primarily János Bródy. The first stage works that later brought significant successes, such as Kőműves Kelemen and István, a király, were also created during the Phonograph era.

János Bródy's solo career as a performer began in the late seventies at the Castle Theatre and the University Stage. His first album, Hungarian Blues, was released in 1980 with unforgettable songs such as Filléres emlékeim; Földvár helé melűton; Mama kérlek; and Masquerade Ball, which reports on the situation in the sign language of the Bródy songs.
His second album was Ne szólj sám in 1984. At the end of the eighties, Hang nélkül followed, on which Engedd, hogy szabad legyek, Útmeneti találtató and Zárt osztáslás were already openly about the desire for change, but Légy hű magadhoz or A fiam meg a lýnyom remained memorable, in which the author reported on his new role.
The compilation album Az utca közés szélő szélő was released in 1994, with songs that are still influential today, such as Tangó LeMondó and Haggyá' má' békibe', but also marked an artistic statement with Mit tehetnék érted, A földön járj or Ősinte bohóco.

The bands broke up, transformed, but János Bródy was constantly able to give himself and with a guitar in his hand, he traveled the country like a chronicler of everyday life, recalling with an ironic smile the brief temporary happiness between hopeless love and fulfilled disappointment, comforting the anxious ones waking up from their unfulfilled dreams. A CD and later a DVD were released about the performance held at the old Budapest Sports Hall at the end of 1994, titled Volt ész egy koncert.

In 2001, at the beginning of the new millennium, the musical medicine with which you do not need to consult a doctor or pharmacist was released under the title Risks and Side Effects. The vast majority of the 12 songs on the album, such as Jön a vonat and Meg széné kapaszkodni, are about risks and side effects that frequently occur in our lives.
A significant place in his work is occupied by stage works for which he wrote the librettos (Kelemen Kőműves, István, a király, Doktor Herz, Anna Fehér, A kiaátkoztó, Veled, Uram, Will Shakespeare or whomever you want, and the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber There Was a Team Once Upon a Time.). The life work of the Kossuth Prize-winning composer-lyricist-performer has been recognized with many awards, and in the spring of 2011 he received the Fonogram Lifetime Achievement Award. At that time, he announced that he had accepted EMI's invitation to make a new album, and by the end of July, the recordings were completed at Fodo Sound Studio.

The album titled Illés szekerén was released on September 22, 2011 and held serious surprises even for those who were familiar with János Bródy's career up to that point.
As a result of the renewed interest, János Bródy came out with an album Ráadás in 2016, which was originally intended to be a jubilee vinyl (vinyl) disc. The hit album includes brand new songs: Te itt lesel majd bíltem, Magyaroks közt éropát, Birkaország, Újra ósz van már, Gyere édes, jöjj és korumpálj, and reinterpreted arrangements of old songs, such as the sequel to Csillag Hajnalka, Felföldiné estéje. For the 70th anniversary, an exclusive 5-disc vinyl compilation was finally released, of which only 300 copies were produced. A DVD+2CD of the uplifting Arena concert was released under the title BRÓDY70, also under the management of Grundrecords.
János Bródy considers himself primarily a songwriter. Many people have covered his songs in various forms; in addition to Zsuzsa Koncz and Judit Halász, he also wrote songs for Zorán, Tamás Somló, Péter Gerendás, László Komár, and at one time he also wrote the lyrics for Omega on behalf of Gábor Várszegi. (On the Path of Stars, Gammapolis). After 25 years, it was revealed that Gábor Várszegi had given his name to the songs that Bródy had written at János Bródy's request. János Bródy's opinion was: "It was a very exciting challenge to see if I could write lyrics in a way that everyone would naturally think of as Omega lyrics. It seems that I succeeded." He also wrote two songs for Judit Szűcs under the pseudonym Te, gyelj. Recently, Bródy songs have also been featured in the Margaret Island band and Ivan & The Parazol shows.
