The Pontiac is a melodic pop-rock and blues-rock band formed in Budapest in 2017 by Barnabás Nagy (vocals, guitar) and Péter Kiss (guitar) at the Kőbánya Music Studio. The current lineup is completed by Benedek Zákányi (bass guitar) and Tamás Süli (drums). Initially, the band wrote songs in English, but since 2020 they have been creating exclusively in Hungarian. Their music blends authentic American vibes, blues-rock, and modern pop-rock elements, drawing inspiration from artists such as John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, and Pearl Jam. From their very first year, The Pontiac has been actively performing, releasing their debut EP “Morning Rain” in 2017, followed by several successful music videos and albums, most recently in 2024. With uncompromising, honest lyrics and an energetic stage presence, The Pontiac has become a defining force in Hungary’s club scene and at major festivals.
