The debut production of the Miles Davis 100 Tribute Quintet is both a tribute and an experiment: a dialogue with the past, spoken in the language of the present.
Created to mark the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’s birth, the ensemble does more than pay homage to one of jazz’s greatest innovators; it also reinterprets his legacy from a new perspective. The concept behind the production is a contemporary European reading of the Miles Davis oeuvre.
The five exceptional musicians reflect, in their own artistic language, on material drawn from different periods of the Davis repertoire, placing emphasis on collective improvisation, open forms, and a present-tense musical voice. The result is not a reconstruction, but living, breathing music: the spirit of Miles reimagined in a contemporary European jazz context.
