Duna Art Ensemble, Péter Novák and Etnophon: Héttorony

Expired event

"...in the depths of the Seven Tower lies the immeasurable treasure, which is guarded by the Friend; on certain nights, you see him crossing valleys, walking with his head up to the moon, and asking for the keys to the treasure... This treasure includes everything that can be found in the divine land of Hungary: golden trees, fruit, plum branches, all kinds of animals, instead of wine, drinkable liquid gold, golden hens, laying similar eggs, golden stones…” - Arnold of Ipolya

The symbolism of the Héttorony legend appeared many times in Hungarian cultural history. The popular education, collective memory and creativity of the Carpathian Basin, as well as the spiritual legacy of the great predecessors, are the treasure that the Héttorony hides in the embrace of the towers of Vienna, Kassa, Munkács, Brasov, Újvidék, Zagreb and Maribor. We count Imre Makovecz's oeuvre among these treasures.

It is no coincidence that the architecture and world music festival, which has been held since 2002 and takes place in the buildings of Makovecz, is also called the Héttorony.

The dance theater performance of the Duna Művéseségyüttes entitled Héttorony undertakes to articulate the Master's way of thinking and the complexity of his works in the language of dance.
