The special swimming pool of Eger
Aladár Bitskey a double-silver medalist European champion Hungarian swimmer was born in Eger. He won his first European champion silver medal in 100-m backstroke in 1927. After World War II he taught the local youth the basics of swimming.
To pay tribute to the champion the downtown swimming pool designed by Imre Makovecz in organic style was named after him. It has a 50-m pool, a children pool, a jcuzzi and a sauna waiting for those wanting to do sports. The friendly atmosphere of the swimming pool, the roof structure recalling both archy Gothics and nature reflect quiet and dignity at the same time. You must visit it!
It is good to know for waterpolo fans that the matches of Eger waterpolo team are also played here. The events are characterized by frenetic atmosphere, the noise of drumsexcitement of supporters whether their favourite team will win.
