Eger Spring Festival 2026

This year, the Eger Spring Festival once again welcomes the audience in the spirit of encounters and cultural diversity.

In March, Eger's cultural spaces will once again be filled with life: theatrical performances, classical and popular music concerts, fine arts and literary programs, alongside family-oriented events, offer meaningful recreation for all ages.

The goal of the festival is to provide a platform for local values, as well as nationally recognized and world-famous creators and artists, while transforming the encounter with culture into a community experience. The performances and accompanying programs do more than just entertain; they provoke thought, invite dialogue, and help us slow down amidst the rush of everyday life.

The Eger Spring Festival serves as a fitting overture to the city's 2026 cultural events: an opportunity to welcome spring together and gain insight into the captivating and sophisticated world of culture, in the spirit of the harmony of intellectual recreation and cultural enrichment.

YOUNG PAINTING, SCULPTURE, GRAPHICS, BUDAPEST - EGER - PÉCS - 2026 | March 25, 2026 – May 2, 2026

Through this current exhibition, the art faculties and departments of the three institutions continue their multi-year collaboration, this time hosted by Eger, specifically in the new building of the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University’s Faculty of Art at 16 Széchenyi Street. The material from the exhibition presented last October at the M21 Gallery in the Zsolnay Quarter in Pécs has been rethought and rearranged, taking into account the different characteristics of the Eger venue. Independent of the institutions, thematic groups of artworks arranged according to a curatorial approach reflect on each other, presenting works that manifest various contemporary creative spirits and carry related content. The close installation of the objects helps to show and visualize the tendencies that occupy the future generation of artists. At the same time, working within the framework of Hungarian higher education, all three institutions attempt to preserve their own character and pass on to new generations the knowledge and experience related to the cultivation of these classical fine art fields. / Detailed program (HU)

Zoltán Egressy: PORTUGAL | March 29, 2026 | SOLD OUT!

There are places where time stands still. People live in these places too, people like you or me. Time stands still in them. Of course, they have desires and dreams, yet somehow there is stagnation in the soul. Slipped, derailed lives lingering at the bottom of a pit. Without handholds. But deep down, in some hidden alley of the soul, a spark still flickers faintly. It is the spark of viability, the spark of solutions, the spark of dreams, the spark of yearning to escape, of setting off, of traveling away. We, the spectators, are not observers of the events, but participants, because sometimes we ourselves live in this stopped time, in this alcohol-fumed world, in the trap of our own helplessness... A performance by the Figura Studio Theatre from Gheorgheni. / Detailed program (HU)

An evening with György Spiró and András Dés. An excellent writer and a fantastic musician. In terms of age, they represent 2 generations. We can hear their exciting literary-musical dialogue this evening. The writer tells stories and reads from writings he considers important and relevant, and the excellent percussionist continues the readings with music. During the prose, at appropriate dramaturgical points, the music sounds, emphasizing, underlining, or even counterpointing certain text sections. MILES DAVIS 100 TRIBUTE QUINTET | March 27, 2026

The formation created for the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis's birth does not merely pay tribute to one of jazz's greatest innovators but also rethinks his legacy from a new perspective: the production's concept is a contemporary, European articulation of the Miles Davis oeuvre. In their own artistic languages, the five exceptional musicians reflect on material drawn from different eras of the Davis repertoire, placing emphasis on collective improvisation, open forms, and present-tense sounding. The end result is not a reconstruction, but living, breathing music: the spirit of Miles reinterpreted in a contemporary European jazz context. / Detailed program
