Oláh Kálmán Jr. Quintet concert at the Valide Sultan bath ruin
The Oláh Kálmán Jr. Quintet is one of the most outstanding ensembles of the young Hungarian jazz generation, led by Junior Prima Award-winning saxophonist Kálmán Oláh Jr. The group’s members—Kálmán Oláh Jr. (soprano saxophone), Sándor Molnár (tenor saxophone), Krisztián Oláh (piano), Géza Jónás (double bass), and András Márkosi (drums)—are all acclaimed musicians whose close personal and professional relationships result in particularly cohesive and inspired performances. The quintet’s repertoire consists mainly of original compositions by Kálmán Oláh Jr., as well as lesser-known jazz pieces and works by Kálmán Oláh Sr., all presented in unique arrangements. The band’s aim is to develop its own musical world and enrich the Hungarian jazz scene with a fresh sound, while continually working on new projects and recordings.
