In cooperation with the Eger Symphony Orchestra, the Cantare Choir Family from Gyöngyös, the Arcadelt Choir from Kisvárda, and the Hassler Vocal Ensemble from Miskolc, a special Hungarian premiere titled Solace will take place on the occasion of All Souls’ Day.
The concert in Eger will be held at the Basilica on November 3, 2025, with free admission.
The work Requiem for Solace by Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen will be performed through the collaboration of the four ensembles in their respective home cities: Gyöngyös, Eger, Kisvárda, and Miskolc. In this deeply moving fifty-minute composition, the widely acclaimed contemporary composer—famous for his choral works—combines the traditional Requiem text with poems by Emily Dickinson and an anonymous English author. According to the composer, the purpose of the work is “to bring comfort to those who suffer from pain and grief, or solace in moments of remembrance and reverence.”
All four participating ensembles are devoted promoters of high-quality musical culture in their local communities and have successfully collaborated in several joint productions in recent years. Their professionalism and broad audience base guarantee the success of this new premiere.
