Wine, Tradition, and Celebration in Eger
The city of Eger is once again hosting a prestigious event: on September 13, 2025, the European Wine Knight Order Consulate Hungaria will hold its festive initiation ceremony in our city.
The European Wine Knight Order is an international organization dedicated to preserving the values of wine culture, nurturing the traditions of wine and gastronomy, and strengthening friendship among nations. In Hungary, the community is represented by the Consulate Hungaria, for which Eger serves as a distinguished venue: here, the love of wine is intertwined with historical legacy and cultural heritage.
One of the highlights of the event is the presence of an authentic replica of the Holy Crown, along with wine knights arriving in Eger from several countries – including Slovenia, Vojvodina, Austria, Slovakia, and Transylvania.
Public program schedule:
- 14:30 – Procession departs from Hotel Eger & Park to St. Anthony of Padua (Minorite) Church
- 14:45 – Ceremonial entrance into the church
- 15:00 – Holy Mass followed by the initiation ceremony
- 16:30 – Festive procession returning to Hotel Eger & Park
