Easter in the Castle of Eger

A whirlwind of programs will take place at the Dobó István Castle Museum from Good Friday to Easter Monday, offering a wide variety of activities for visitors.

Alongside the Knights of Eger Castle, traditionalist groups such as the Egri Vitézlő Oskola, the Pattantyús Martalócok, and the Bakocsai István Kompánia will also be present within the fortress walls. They will provide a glimpse into the 16th-century lifestyle, costumes, and crafts, while regularly firing their historical firearms. The Knights of Eger Castle will hold interactive guided tours across various exhibitions seven times a day.

On Holy Saturday, the castle will host the Bornemissza Cup historical archery competition, where hundreds of athletes dressed in period costumes will test their skills. From Sunday, the focus shifts to artisans: there will be traditional egg painting, an egg horseshoeing demonstration, a craft playhouse, family puzzle-solving, a folk playground, and a petting zoo.
