A contemporary dance performance from a not-so-long-gone era
Lacus Pelso: the Latin name of Lake Balaton. The place of carefree, sunny summers, the "Hungarian sea", which has acquired a special meaning nowadays. Through art and pop culture references, the performance spanning the ages recalls the legendary Balaton summers from the point of view of those vacationing on Lake Balaton.
Nostalgia, hope, reckoning - the production presents a multitude of successful (and unsuccessful) changes, which, in addition to the specific Hungarian feeling of life at the time, also speaks of our present-day reality.

The etymological explanation resonates with me, because I also think of the solo being prepared in this way as a similarity, since the person on stage is a quasi-fictitious person. He feeds on Krisztián and me and appears on Krisztián's body, so he is similar to him, but he is not one in one. The appearance of the word effigy was first documented in the English-speaking world in 1539, probably through French mediation, and is derived from the singular form of the Latin effigies, which means copy, image, likeness, portrait, and statue.

"I like the fact that this similarity has a biblical association, because according to the Bible, God created man in his own image. And the painter compares the image of the model and his own idea and paints the result. Like us, in this solo. This is supported by Krisztián's hobby, i.e. painting, according to which the painter paints portraits. His portraits show not only faces, but also destinies. Even in our performance, the character will have an individual destiny, which will emerge - or not -, which can be read by the audience - or not" - Márta Ladjánszki.
The burning of effigies is part of many rituals marking the change of seasons, which take place according to local traditions throughout Europe.
The figurines usually embody the "undesirable" forces of life (winter, the previous year, witches, Judas), and by burning them, they mark and celebrate the annual cycle of life - death and rebirth - the defeat of winter and the return of spring. Most of the traditions are held around New Year, at the end of Carnival or the week before Easter.
