Rosehip jam from Szarvaskő

Szarvaskő is situated in a little valley where any agricultural activity is almost impossible. However, the resourceful population of the village lives together with nature, so they have recognised the possibilities in rosehip growing wild. The little red berries are tasty on their own, but when made jam a real treasure is the outcome. A big celebration is made in the village in October dedicated to rosehip jam made by old local tradition where the process of making the jam is also shown while visitors are served rosehip tea and speciality dishes.
