World War memorial promenade

Memorial Promenade of World War Heroes.

World War itself is an immense trauma and a meaningless loss for humanity. The deaths of soldiers fighting in the war sealed or redirected the fates and futures of families—often in ways we cannot even fully comprehend.

The parapet, constructed from stones, stands as a symbol of humanity’s unity and togetherness, and it also serves a practical function by protecting present-day passersby from falling ‘into the depths’ (into the stream). The nameless stones represent the deceased, among which research has identified and named 950 individuals. These are made visible by painted markings.

The inner embankment painting ensures the reception and visibility of the artwork from Esperanto Promenade, which also invokes a sense of "unreachability"—illustrating the distance or distancing of the past.
