Eger is a favourite place for those coming with family. Exciting battles, underground world, special museums, that is a real children-paradise is waiting for visitors. Just have time to choose from museums, cultural offers and active programmes. If you stay for several days, you can have a trip to the vicinity, as well.
The Castle and the Casemates (underground corridors)
Eger Castle is a place offering adventures on its own, but it is even more special in August, at the time of the Border Castle Festival. Take part in a time travel between the huge stone walls or descend under the surface and take an adventurous walk in the casemates, the underground cellar system once having had defence purposes. Children are waited by warrior trials, Gárdonyi-hut, handcraft workshop, falcon-show, folk playground and "historical" sock-battle.
Gárdonyi House
50 m from the northern entrance of the castle can be found the memorial house of Géza Gárdonyi " the hermit of Eger", preserving the personal belongings, handwright of the writer. Be a guest of one of our greatest writers, have a rest in the garden with ancient trees while the children can play under the shady trees.
Magic Tower
Magic Tower is a real small palace of wonders where you can even solve the mystery of the Bermuda triangle through interesting physical experiments. Those interested in astrology cannot miss this place either, since there is a planetarium and an astrology museum "upstairs" as well. The view opening from 45 m high can be admired from both the terrace and the room of the Camera Obscura.
Kopcsik Marcipánia
The Marcipan Museum is a real paradise for those having a sweet tooth. The collection consists of about 150 pieces made of sugar mass. Its main attraction is Baroque Room at the end of the museum in which everything is made of sugar from the floor, the curtain to the stove. It took three years for the master to create the masterpieces of the special museum.
Fireman Museum
The museum shows relics of firemen's past and technical achievements of the present together. Besides the permanent museum and restaurers' workshop also a playhouse and a playground is waiting for children where they can even try themselves as firemen.
The children's library is a good programme, too
If your child likes piece and quiet and also books, visit Bródy Sándor Children Library in Eger. You can read on the spot, play board games and if you are lucky, you can even get to a "tale circle" in the afternoon.
Harlekin Puppet Theatre
The history of Harlekin Puppet Theatre started like tales: once upon a time... But it happened not over the glass hill, but here in Eger. The puppet theatre is a dash of colour in the cultural offer of Eger. Besides the small ones the schedule contains performances also for the older audience, eg. The Jungle Book, The Blue Bird, The fiddle of the Poor Man.
Swimming pool
The Thermal Bath at the edge of the historic city centre is a real adventure park for children: families are waited with 13 pools, slides, sports fields, playgrounds. The pool with a water castle being the scenery of "water battles" offers unforgettable adventures for the little ones. Older children can plash from slides, or can swim in the 50-meter-long competition pool and can swim in the pools of different temperatures. There is also a library in the swimming pool. Choose a book to your liking! If you do not finish with it till the end of your holiday, you can send it back by post. Borrowing is free but registration is needed.
Playgrounds
In the city centre of Eger several up-to-date and safe playgrounds are waiting for children. Choose one and have a rest between two programmes! There are some specialities on the list as well, like traffic playground in Tittel Pál street. In the cosy, leafy park miniature version of 40 traffic situations can be found so that children can learn basic street rules in playful way by roller or bicycle.

Horse riding
The ranch is situated in the neighbourhood of Eger, an ideal location for horse riding where horse-fans can pursue their hobby in impressing environment, in christal clear air.
Noszvaj - Tale Route
The Tale Route including 9 stops in Noszvaj can be walked on individually. Similarly to a study trail tale-travellers find a tale and a playful task, thought-provoking question connected to the tale at every station. Among others some parts of the tale route are adventure parks and the playground of Oxigen Hotel or the cosy park in front of De la Motte Mansion.

Szilvásvárad
Szilvásvárad is situated in picturesque environment about 20 kms from Eger. Relaxation of children is ensured by a little bob-track, adventure park and narrow-gauge forest train, but a nice tour in the fresh air can be an ideal pastime on itself. In the tour Cascade-Veil, Istállóskő cave or Millenary lookout tower can be visited.
